Socialism has always been wildly successful. It's stated goals are just smoke; the real goals are to enrich the socialists and give them power to punish those they hate. It ALWAYS works. Jacobins, Nazis, Communists, fascists, social democrats, progressives, liberals, Democrats etc, all get rich when in power. Fortunately they're not all able to crush their enemies, but it's not from lack of trying. Just look what the Democrats did to black folks since they conquered all the institutions in America. SPECTRE is the perfect name for the leftist fellow travelers.

Sowell and others have documented the reversal of black prosperity trends that coincided with the expansion of the welfare state and protection of blacks as a class. And many have documented the unintended consequences (road to hell ...) of failing schools, single-parent families, affirmative action, teen unemployment, etc.

Romney has few black votes to lose, and a dose of well-communicated reality might resonate with many swing voters. And who knows? He might convert a few liberals intellectually honest enough to heed facts and consider government policies that do not subjugate under the guise of benevolence

There's a reason it took the country so long to pull out of the Great Depression under FDR, why Americans became acquainted with the Misery Index under Carter, and why we've had the weakest economic recovery from a recession in U.S. history under Obama. Liberal economic policies just don't work. In fact, the only time left-wingers have taken charge in the last 40 years without decimating the economy was during the Clinton years when Republicans in Congress balanced the budget and spent 6 years strong-arming Clinton to keep him from molesting the economy like one of his interns.
