The NRA is Winning the Battle

While the anit-gun crowd likes to talk about the NRA. There are many, many more people not affiliated with the NRA that are against any additional law or regulations regarding guns. We Law Abiding Citizens did nothing wrong, we should not be penalized and our ability to defend our families should not be placed in jeopardy. AR 15's are NOT the problem. Magazines are NOT the problem. Background checks that we ALL go through are NOT the problem.

No background checks for 40% of gun sales. No check at most gun shows.

How many murderers bought their weapons at gun shows? I've been to gun shows in three different states recently; background checks were required at every booth that sold firearms in all three.

Besides, it's nobody's business, especially the government's, what I buy, when I buy it, how much I pay, or how I paid for it.

False on both counts. All sales from dealers have background checks whether at gun shows or not. The only exceptions are private sales and they are closer to 10% and usually between family and friends. You should wonder why your leaders have to lie to make their case.

That is not true and is a fabricated lie from 20 years ago. All dealers at every show must perform a background check. Gun show sales are less than 2% of total sales. Why don't you take your stupid liberal I drank the koolaid ideal and look up some real facts. How about trying the FBI website. In fact, I suggest you leave the Country because you are too stupid to be an American.

If you want to be taken as something more than another raving leftist lunatic, check your facts. That 40% figure has been panned. Even Joe "gun-safety" Biden admitted the number quoted by Barack "Liar in Chief" Obama was erroneous.

But mostly -- drop the pretense that any supply side action does any good to prevent gun crimes. Point of sale restrictions only make it more difficult to acquire a weapon. Those intent on useing them for violence simply buy them on the black market. And those honest citizens who want them to defend themselves simply do without and get killed by illegally armed hooligans.

The ONLY practical, moral, Constitutional deterrent against gun violence is the belief that one's victim may be armed.

FBI stats, over twenty years or so, reveal an amusing statistic.. that LESS THAN THREE PERCENT of crime guns were obtained at gunshows... NOW, of all those obtained at gunshows, the vasst majority of them were from FFL dealers who MUST perform the same background check on the purchaser as if it were at their regular brick and mortar gunstore. SO... the REAL percentage of crime guns bought at gunshows without the background check is point zero seven percent.. of ALL crime guns. For that infinitesmal number you will impose an unconstitutional tax and initiate a national gun registry on ALL law abiding gun owners, in other words, ninety nine point three percent. This is insanity, besides being illegal.

As to yhour "no checks at most gun shows" once again you are dead wrong... EVERY GUN SHOW has FFL Licensed dealers vending there... all FFL dealers are required to perform the standard background check, just as at their normal primary business locations. ATF rules require that anyone "in the business of selling firearms" be an FFL, and do the background checks. Exempted are private vendors seeking to sell off or buy a few guns to enhance their personal collections.. they can't "make money" at this trade. Of the typical volume of trade at any gun show, the private vendors comprise a small percentage of sales. Further, any online or interstate sales MUST, per Federal Law (18 USC) be completed through a FFL Dealer, with background check.

You cant point to where that number comes from, or back it up either.

If the sale is private, who is keeping a statistical record of it to acchieve the 40% number?

In the wake of the Sandy Hook school shooting we all knew that an impending gun debate would be a hard fought battle. Just after this week’s hearing on Capitol Hill, a new Forbes study finds that the NRA is winning the influence battle over gun control. In the new study performed by Forbes Insights, an independent and unbiased organization, they found that the “NRA and the pro-gun rights voices are winning the influence battle and will continue to be strong and more influential if the pro gun control voice remains fragmented”.
