I find it incredible that the left is making a big deal about Akin's words while Planned Parenthood has been proven to cover for statutory rape in order to keep giving minor girls abortions (without their parents permission) while they line their pockets with blood money.

Worse yet, the Dims supply Planned Parenthood with taxpayer funds. The GOP needs to go on offense, not keep trying to justify themselves on defense. Slam back by emphasizing and re-emphasizing the Dims' unpopular positions on partial birth abortion, minors not needing parental consent, government-funded abortions,Obama's voting against saving babies born in botched abortions, etc. These are all very unpopular positions sure to raise the voters' ire.

Todd Akin would do his party and his country a service by stepping aside. The rest of the campaign will be dominated by this side issue, possibly denying Republicans a key Senate seat. To use the words "legitimate" and "rape" in the same phrase betrays a serious lack of judgment. Only about 1 percent of women undergoing abortions report that they were raped, according to the Alan Guttmacher Institute. One percent is not zero.
