The GOP did NOT pick up the seats they were supposed to win. Two Senate seats were lost - by horrendously bad and stupid candidates (Akin and Murdoch) - in states Romney won comfortably. Romney barely won NC also. Then, the GOP lost Senate seats in reliably "red" states of ND and MT. No excuse for this. Akin should be personally eviscerated for refusing to step aside after he made a politically fatal statement, even though everyone knew he would lose. Anger? No - rage! Obama was beatable. The GOP screwed up big time. Thanks for nothing to those 3 million McCain voters who sat at home. The damage will be irreversable.

Memorandum to the GOP: When running an election campaign it is often valuable to select a nominee who represents the rank and file of the Party. This is how other Parties do it. Perhaps you might get on board.
