One shouldn't be OVERLY cynical, but it seems a fundamental understanding is missing today. Moral correction of children (whether gentle or severe) isn't a psychiatric issue. It is a spiritual, sin/righteousness (and also the sine qua non, REDEMPTIONAL) issue. Letting the child be aware of a tangible presence of a forgiving, loving God is an absolute, absolute MUST in the equation, or only tragic, self defeating people-pleasing and/or self-centered self-righteousness will result... and the life will sail towards hell until God eventually catches it which could be decades of tragedy later.

Some spiritual discernment and discretion needs to be exercised in addressing unruliness in children, still as you have illustrated there is a valid time for getting rough about it. Part of the modern dread of doing anything physical to a kid comes, I believe, from the fact that there have been so many genuinely dysfunctional families that either greatly overdo the punishment beyond all spiritual necessity (as the bible says, this can cause a child to lose heart) or that do it in a selfish, sanctimonious/hypocritical spirit rather than in earnest godliness (which teaches the wrong lesson). Their failures have polluted the environment for everyone else.

Wheeeee, the fun when the "dictionary" changes from year to year, not organically, but chaotically like the image in a fun house mirror. A whale of a lot of problems that have people lying on the couch used to have them seeing their clergy instead and were sanely addressed as spiritual matters. Not shallowly as in "oh, you didn't say Hail Mary or the Lord's Prayer enough" but as issues that mattered to a God that generously loves and generously forgives but also insists, with the aid of His chastisement via the consequences of sin, upon a sincere effort to embrace holiness. Holiness is another word for spiritual wholeness. The Bible says "Unite my heart to fear Thy name." Some aspect of mental disorder extend into the legitimate bailiwick of the physician, and there is no reason medicines should not be used for purposes of mercy, but the spiritual side of them gets such short shrift today and that is so wrong.

The "gay" are so self obsessed about their perverted sex practices that they can't even make a decent sitcom. One "gay" in a cast of straights may manage to be very, very funny. A clowder of them is humorless and grim.
so what do you take, cat pills or dog pills?... going to the vet might work for some things, but humans have special needs. obama and his fellow democrats was simply bent on taking the wrecking ball of liberal dominance to one of the things that made america great.
And it took me about 15 seconds to google up... tea party dupage... voila.
Some attention needs to be paid to the ability to articulate sane (conservative) philosophy well, but it's a given that the MSM is going to slime the messenger any way they can and we can't be picking some lukewarm politician just because he or she is famous.
I think only one person has complained about the irreverence in the title so far... you can debate that, I wouldn't have used the term. But now that Mr. Ransom has, one might view them as having been marked on but good by the Lion of Judah....

There's power in praise too... as long as the people doing it are sincere.
