No, all Infantrymen are there because they volunteered for it, just like everybody else. Nobody forced them.

But inside the Infantry Battalion there are other MOS's (Military Specialties). An infantry battalion will have Signal personnel (25U enlisted), there will be clerks and medics, supply room and mechanics etc.

Currently for example all the 25U in an infantry BN are all men. Women 25Us work at Brigade or other type units like Aviation, signal battalions and transportation battalions and Division HQ etc. The men 25U are assigned to those infantry units on a random need based basis (except elite units like Rangers are all volunteer)

The first line of attack in political battles is language. Getting people to phrase things your way is the first step to getting them to think your way.

In the foggy mess of the debate over women in combat, you will see media references to a “ban” being “lifted.”
