Lurita, I frequently observe your description at the bottom of your articles which describes you as "an African American conservative commentator who writes about issues affecting the federal government.". I judge you by the quality of your writing than by the color of your skin. I would hope you would do the same and change the description to "Lurita Alexis Doan is a conservative commentator who writes about issues affecting the federal government." Thanks.

Death of An Atheist

Atheists have faith that their non-belief is correct. I have faith that the God of Abraham will save me from my sins. They are both religions - only one can be correct.

Let's Kill Cain's Campaign

Wouldn't it be better to wait until at least one of the charges is proven before killing the accused? I would like to see Herman Cain ousted from the campaign in shame OR 5-6 ladies charged with libel - or some combination of the two, if appropriate. I do not want only one of those two options.
I'm quickly becoming a senior. I'm in favor of the cut. I would prefer not to get any return on the money embezzled from me over the years if my children are not embezzled in the same way during their careers.

If Not Romney, Who? If Not Now, When

It's sad to disagree with Ann so vehemently. She won't be happy unless Chris Christie is the nominee. I didn't vote for John McCain in the primaries or the general election, I voted for the constitution party. "McCain lite" won't get my vote either. The only reason that Romney insists so "vehemently" that he will repeal Obamacare is because we all doubt so much that he really has an aversion to it. The smartest thing for conservatives to do is to vote to see a Cain/Gingrich ticket (in which ever order it happens to be).
"Creepy" isn't what I would call Mr. Pearce's behavior, it's what I would call of pseudo conservative that wants to turn the United States into North Mexico. We need more representatives like Mr. Pearce that are willing to state the obvious. Mrs. Chavez, you are free to move to Mexico any time you like.
When I was in high school I worked for a farmer that told me about government officials that would come to his farm and "suggest" to him what he should, or should not be growing. They said they would even give him money for not growing crops on land. That didn't make sense to him, he wanted to be paid for the crops that he grew, not the ones that he didn't grow. He considered their suggestions and in the end did what he thought best for his business, because it made sense in the long term for his land. He did not take their money - and lived free.
I voted for RIck Perry for governor in 2006. He promised he would put a fence along every inch of the border with Mexico. Rick Perry is a good campaigner, he knows what people want to hear, but he doesn't follow through with it when he gets into office. Instead he pushes a Trans-Texas Corridor to allow more unregulated, uninspected and uninsured trucks come in from Mexico. I haven't voted for RIck Perry since 2006, and I never will.

Obama Lies, Taxes Rise

Unless Obama is a horse and sleeps standing up, he's lying then, too. He also probably lies in his dreams. A "fair tax" would be for every citizen to pay the same amount of tax. It should not cost Warren Buffet more to live in this country than it costs me (not as a percentage, but in terms of actual dollars). When we all pay the same amount for the privelege to live in this country, we can all make decisions about how most wisely to spend our money from the same frame of reference. Those who are not productive enough to afford to live in this country should not have the privelege to vote. Wouldn't that be a different country with prudent decisions made by the productive class? Privelege should be accompanied with responsibility.

Exciting Schools

On your special, "Stupid in America", you showed a graph of test scores vs. spending over the last years. It would be interesting to add a line in there for grade points and see how they have changed. My kids and nieces all get straight A's. We need to adjust our scoring so that a C is average. I think we are giving out grades too easily to make students - and their parents - feel good.
