Despite Evan Bayh's alleged conservatism, Bayh was a reliable vote in the Senate for the Democrat agenda. Bayh is a typical Democrat who gets elected by talking conservative at home and then votes with Harry Reid in the Senate.

Much truth there, but replace Bayh name with Lugar. All still true, and far more sinister.
