Readers pf this column should also read "Shrinking Problem: Illegal Immigration From Mexico" by Michael Barone. I made the point there and I repeat it here: "Let's see. Most illegal immigrants were attracted to this country because of the better prospects it offered them to earn a living. Now they are leaving because that is no longer true given our sagging economy. Sounds like they helped kill the goose that laid the golden eggs to me. Isn't that precisely the reason those who oppose illegal immigration do so?

We need a permanent ban on all future Hispanic immigration. Enough is enough. No one group of foreigners should have the monopoly on American citizenship as have the Hispanics except for foreigners of European descent (i.e. like our founders).

The Democrats killed the goose. Read "Reckless Endangerment" by Gretchen Morgensen and Joshua Rosner. It explains who caused the housing/mortgage crash. They were virtually all liberals Democrats.

The actual Republican Establishment –- political consultants, The Wall Street Journal, corporate America, former Bush advisers and television pundits -- are exhorting Mitt Romney to flip-flop on his very non-Establishment position on illegal immigration.

Both as governor of Massachusetts and as a presidential candidate, Romney has supported a fence on the border, E-Verify to ensure that employees are legal and allowing state police to arrest illegal aliens. He is the rare Republican who recognizes that in-state tuition, driver's licenses and amnesty are magnets for more illegal immigration.

These positions are totally at odds with Establishment Republicans who pander to...
