Is Democracy Viable?

No. Democracy is not viable, especially "one person, one vote." You can't afford to let the parasite classes vote. The franchise should belong those who serve and those who pay the bills. In any case, we're supposed to be a Democracy, we're supposed to be Republic.

Treating Children As Adults

Ditto. We've locked a lot of cable channels, and we check the kid's Internet activity - and they're not allowed to access the Internet privately. Still I suspect controlling access was a lot easier when there were only 4 channels, the telephone and the library...
They should cut Gaza off from power and water until he's returned. They should also have drones overhead constantly looking for Hamas leadership and killing them on a daily basis. If Shalit is dead or harmed, the power and water should be cut permanently. Let them dehydrate in the dark.

Actually, if I remember correctly, after the initial disaster, the Empire DID manage to pacify Ashcanistan: The Second Anglo-Afghan War was fought between the United Kingdom and Afghanistan from 1878 to 1880, when the nation was ruled by Sher Ali Khan of the Barakzai dynasty, the son of former Emir Dost Mohammad Khan. This was the second time British India invaded Afghanistan. The war ended in a manner after attaining all the British geopolitical objectives. Most of the British and Indian soldiers withdrew from Afghanistan. The Afghans were permitted to maintain internal sovereignty but they had to cede control of their nation's foreign relations to the British. Sounds like a win to me.

Yeppers. I thought Democracy originated in Athens. Besides, the founders wanted a REPUBLIC, not mob rule, aka. "Democracy."

What a moron. ANYONE can end up on a "Terror Watch List" and there is no way to challenge it or even to get an explanation. If someone suspect, then law enforcement should pick him up. Until then they get to keep their full rights.

I'd like a wide, dense, well marked minefield with tall stacks of concertina wire on both sides. NOTHING says "Unwelcome" like a concertina wire obstacle. And if you cross it, you must be up to no good - hence the minefield. That a regular patrols by border troops (not ICE - troops!)...
Based on what happened to the rebels in Libya, this is might not be an entirely bad thing. At the very least, a citizen should be able to own whatever weapons and equipment are carried by light infantry.

Tough Times for Radical Islam

Radical Islam seems to be doin' pretty will to me. It's toppled governments in Tunisia and Egypt and is making headway in Yemen. Its still has a fair to middlin' chance in Libya and Syria. They control much of Africa. The "government" of Afghanistan has signaled that its willing to accommodate them. Europe is being subverted. They're pretty much a "protected class" here in the US. It seems to me that Mr. Hansen is being a wee bit optimistic here.
If you can't trust a man with the "small" things like marital fidelity, you can't trust him at all.
