This is the "Out of Africa" model, which has a lot of supporting evidence. There is also the "Multiregional Continuity Model," which suggests that Homo erectus migrated out of Africa, and the subsequent emergence of Homo sapiens was not restricted to any one area, but was a phenomenon that occurred throughout the entire geographic range where humans lived in the "Old World." Who knows at this point what "the Truth" really is.
