Is this required training for all gun owners? If not it should be.

Maybe you should take this training, Rah-drooooooool. It might help you get over your hoplophobia.
Bill1895 Wrote: Apr 16, 2013 11:58 AM
No: in fact most states do not know who owns guns.

Ok, if it's to be required training, upon successful completion of this course the individual is issued a CCW permit that's good in every state with NO exceptions. Period.

Also, it should be a tax write-off....

Training should be provided, free of charge during your local militia training segments. It is a constitutional duty of the State to do the training and the feds to develop the curriculum and make the provisions necessary to carry that out. See your personal copy of the Constitution, prolly Article I.

Perhaps "offered"? I'm not sure I want The State to know if I have a gun, or what kind. And I'm sure that there will be a record, if I take a government-sponsored course. It's not a gun registry, but it is an owner registry. Same difference!

Is eight weeks of Basic Combat Training and hours on the gun range training on the M-16, M-60 machine gun, .50 cal machine gun, .45 pistol, etc. and 15 years of Army service enough to "allow" me to own handguns?
meerbock Wrote: Apr 16, 2013 9:58 PM
My thought exactly. Thanks for pointing it out.

So, what kind of REQUIRED training should we have for people exercising their rights under the First Amendment?
CommieDregs Wrote: Apr 16, 2013 9:49 AM
How about required training and a permit to vote?
Reginald10 Wrote: Apr 16, 2013 5:06 PM
And a background check, and a high tax to discourage frivolous use.

After all, if a poll tax is legal, a gun tax should be too!
Duke Nuk'em Wrote: Apr 16, 2013 9:48 AM
Let's make it mandatory for all! And anyone who declines the training must see a psychiatrist and be ruled mentally unstable.
Publius4254 Wrote: Apr 16, 2013 9:36 AM
I would love to take this training course, but I will NOT agree to making it mandatory or required. We still have personal liberties in this country (for now, anyway).
rauljg69 Wrote: Apr 16, 2013 1:51 PM
They shouldnt make us take drivers test either then Just give us a drivers license in the mail.
Publius4254 Wrote: Apr 16, 2013 2:57 PM
Driving is a PRIVILEGE, keeping and bearing arms is a RIGHT. Please learn the difference.
Reginald10 Wrote: Apr 16, 2013 5:04 PM
He meant not taking /this/ course. One must have some training, before using any tool.

PAULDEN, Ariz. - “We will teach you how to save your life.”

Now that my carbine training is complete (for now), I’m onto my defensive pistol class.

We started Monday at 8 a.m. by saying the pledge of allegiance. We were given a Gunsite defensive pistol student manual, a name tag, a pen,...
