Turkey's Strategy

Well-written article, very informative, but I, too, am surprised that the rise of Islamism is not even mentioned as a cause of the changes in Turkey. When he re-united the country after WWI, Ataturk insisted that Turkey have a secular, pro-Europe government. That served Turkey well until 10-15 yrs. ago when elements, including the current PM, began pushing for Islam and Sharia law.

Thank You, Sarah Palin

I met Gov. Palin in Juneau in Aug 2008 and have been very supportive since. I would send money, but where? The article mentions "SarahPac" but its disclaimer states it is not supported by any candidate. Google lists at least a dozen "Sarah" sites, most of whom are merely capitalizing on her name. What is a body to do to find the real Sarah?

HWB -- Home While Black

Prof. Gates is identified as "director of the W.E.B.Du Bois Institute...". Why has no one mentioned that Du Bois was an activist Black Nationalist and Communist in the USA in the '30s to '50s? He was indicted as a communist agent in 1951. Isn't it reasonable to conclude that Gates, carrying on this grand tradition, would be quick to yell "black racism!"?

RNC member Bopp proposes a reasonable list of criteria. The problem is the RNC is not conservative. As I am a conservative, I give the RNC minimal support. If they would agree to Bopp's proposal, I would be much more interested.

The State Budget Mess -- Continued

Term limits hasn't increased the integrity of the legislature as expected; but the answer is not to do away with the limits but to go back to a PART TIME LEGISLATURE.Politicians are too easily corrupted and they are costing us much too much. Parttimers would have to have a balanced budget in 3 months, would not get daily per diem, and would have to have a real job so they live under the laws they pass. A measure is being introduced (or an initiative)to limit terms to 90 days. This should be supported, if only to shake up the politicians.
