John Adams was a learned man and a wise one. Like many of the founding fathers the studied history so that they could understand human behavior and learn what works and what does not. Tyranny has been the norm for most of mankind's history. Another founding father who's intellect and wisdom I have great respect for is Thomas Jefferson. "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure." With ever growing government intrusion into our lives we are witnessing the death of our "tree of liberty."

What was the life expectancy of your cave dwelling ancestors? Got any ideas? "Not a single person has died of second hand smoke." And you KNOW this how? It must be true because nobody has yet proved you wrong? Is that really your idea of critical thinking? Cigarette smoke gives my wife headaches. Go to a nice restaurant. Order a nice meal and then, just when you're meal has arrived the couple in the next booth light up cigarettes and make you sick. Don't get me wrong. She didn't DIE, but their insistance on smoking RUINED my wife's meal. We both have to get up and leave. It's a little more than just annoying. I don't mind if other people want to do things that are harmful to themselves. Just don't cause me harm in your endeavor.

I can see from the timestamp on your post that you typed your diatribe at 2am. That might help explain (a little) why it sounds like the rantings of a delirous madman......

There are others who history has shown to be similarly cunning: Adolph Hitler, Vladamir Lennon, Joseph Stalin, Mao Zedong, Fidel Castro. All were able to rally a large group of poeple and get them to create a totalitarian social structure on false promises of a utopian world. Since Obama is having a hard time getting his way (if he could just rid himself of that darned Constitution....) the next step is to get folks like Van Jones to organize some protests. Van Jones is an unapologetic Marxist who was Obama's "Green Czar" but was asked to leave when the heat got too hot. Now Jones is organizing a "99 Percent Spring" (like the Arab Spring, but with labor unions and angry leftists - the Occupy Wall Street crowd - with a makeover).

Absolutely amazing. You toss up 3 examples of statements Dr. Sowell wrote that are completely true, then tell anyone who thinks so that they are a stupid braindead zombie. Typicaly liberal tactic. You have no argument so you just start insulting people. Maybe you should try again Wootan - this time use some logic in your argument (if possible) rather than simplly calling people stupid. (Is this the way someone taught you to have a discussion with someone? What is your problem?)
4.4 trillion dollars is 4 trillion, 400 billion dollars. 3.2 trillion dollars is 3 trillion 200 billion dollars. if you don't understand billions from millions you shouldn't try to do math.

What a Recess Appointment Gets Us

Ralph178 Wrote: Jul 27, 2010 5:22 PM
With the exception of a national emergency (a real emergency - not like the fake emergency the Democrats used to rush the "stimulus" through) there should be NO RECESS APPOINTMENTS. It's not necessary any more. It use to be, when congress had to go back to their districts for months at a time in horse drawn carriages. Today, there is absolutely no justification for it outside of a genuine national emergency.

Daphne, try to keep up with the subject at hand and don't go off the liberal "deep end." This is about Berwick and his fundamental ideas about health care. He believes that old people who get sick should be allowed to die because they are of no use to the government. Like so many Marxists, he believes that the people are the property of the government and should be managed as such.

Obama had to use the recess appointment even though Democrats control both houses of congress and all the committees. That's because the man's ideas are so fundamentally reprehensible that even the members of Obama's party cannot defend the man - at least not in the open.
