I have no doubt that if Mitch McConnell had been alive in 1776 he would have been a loyalist. Mitch does what's good for Mitch and his career. He's not ready to do the kind of heavy lifting necessary to turn this economic disaster around. He's too concerned with reelection to make the kinds of tough decisions and explain why we must make some sacrifices today in order to prevent bankrupting future generations. MItch does what's good for Mitch.

Excellent! I've been saying that same thing for years! A system like this would ensure that our government truly reflected the sentiments and sensibilities of the citizenry.

The Congress are embedded into the hide of the American people much like a tick. Ticks are not reasoned with. You cannot convince a tick to leave it's host. No you must grab them each by the head, squeeze, and pull them out. It is an ugly and unpleasant thing, but it must be done if we are to survive as a nation and a civil society. Alas, the American people are too squeamish for ugly and unpleasant things, so we will remain the infected host until the irritation grows to intolerable levels.

The idea of short, reasonable term limits makes perfect sense. Of course the obvious problem is that the ruling class will not willingly surrender their high political positions they enjoy. People say we can vote them out at any time and they are correct - except that the reelection of Barack Obama proves better than any other example, that the American electorate is largely ignorant and easily manipulated. Unless and until this government (all of it) is completely removed by the American people we will remain mere surfs to our political class masters. Until out lives get much much worse than it is today, I highly doubt that average Americans will be willing to take back their government in the manner that our founding fathers expected of us.
As we continue down this road to national suicide, I suspect that more and more folks think the way you do. You can push people just so far and eventually they will push back. I think the great American push-back is coming......
Illegal Mexicans get deported (read "safely escorted back to the border"). An American who actually trys to "defend" this country from invasion in the manner that any self respecting nation should be protected will go to prison for a very long time. Bottom line - Americans are not allowed to defend this nation without government consent - and our current and recent past federal government sees the invasion from the south as a good thing.
Mollycoddling those who participate in the invasion of our country from the south is what has created this problem. Does nobody understand that the act of deporting someone who walked across our border illegally does NOTHING to deter them from doing it again and again and again? When there are no adverse consequences to an illegal act, but there are potential payoffs to engaging in that act, you should expect a lot of that illegal activity. The Gang of 8 Idiots should pool their nuts and see if between the 8 of them if they have a pair. We know that McCain and Graham have nothing to contribute. If someone invades my house, I know how to deter that sort of behavior. I shoot them. How is this any different than illegal border crossing?

Government subsidized industries and monopolies are inefficient and wasteful. BTW: Only an idiot liberal Democrat would come up with the absurd apples in Florida analogy. Very, very strange.

"Remember Detroit" should become a slogan and rallying cry for conservatives. It is a perfect "shining example" of what to expect from Democrat/socialist intervention in an otherwise successful capitalist market. It's what happens when the government comes to "help."
Marsha Blackburn knows what we all know. Obama is lying....again. He does not shoot skeet all the time. He plays golf all the time, but not skeet. Obama wanted to sound as though he understands people who use weapons for sporting purposes. It doesn't work. It's lame and pathetic. There's even a photoshopped picture that has been tweeted that shows Obama holding a shotgun that had to be deleted because it was such an obvious fake.
