I've seen the same kindness and generosity at numerous gatherings where "God and country" are not the supposed focus of the event. "Christians" don't have a monopoly on benevolence. Where I live such compassion is commonplace, and we don't need pontificating pusillanimous posers like Beck et al. to make it happen. What you describe is simple human charity, and it abounds in the "normal" world as well.
