He's uncomfortable calling fallen soldiers heroes, and I'm uncomfortable calling him an American, a journalist, or, for that matter, a man.

We Need to Leave Afghanistan Now

The upcoming election ought to be a laugh a minute when Obama takes to the campaign trail with his teleprompter. (Not that he ever really stops campaigning.) What will he promise this time around? Is he going to get us out of Irag? Out of Afghanistan? Close Gitmo? Get spending under control? Have a more "transparent" government? Oh wait - we heard all those promises the last time around. Considering that he's accomplished exactly nothing, about all he can offer that's new is to get us out of Libya, a conflict we had no business getting into in the first place.

I agree with most of your post, with one exception: I think you meant to say WORKING people are having fewer children. I know plenty of NON-WORKING people who have plenty of children. One, in fact, has never worked, is 38 years old, and has 10 children by 6 different women. His own mother has 8 kids by 3 different fathers, and only 2 of those half-brothers and sisters work. One of the problem isn't that people aren't having enough children, it's that the wrong people are having them.

Nicely stated JRG, and exactly correct. Progressives (I prefer to call them what they are - socialists - rather than letting them skate by on their "new" adopted name for themselves) are always anxious to use government to meddle in EVERYTHING. The collective is all that matters; individuals are dispensible and disposable, and so are their rights.
Obama during his election campaign: "Raising taxes will help the economy." Obama now: "NOT raising taxes will help the economy." Obama during his election campaign: "I will close Guantanamo and try terrorists in civilian courts." Obama now...."We're not closing Guantanamo, and maybe we should use military tribunals." Obama during his election campaign: "I will get us out of Irag and Afghanistan." Obama now: "We need to STAY in Iraq and we sent more troops to Afghanistan." Obama during his election campaign: "We need to spend our way out of this recession." Obama now: "We need to cut spending." The guy has all the makings of a great community organizer.
Bernie is still in the senate. Do we need any more evidence that Vermont should really be part of Canada and not part of the USA? Canada's left -socialist leanings would suit most Vermonters, and we can afford to lose a little cheese and a few Volvos. Come on Bernie - make yourself useful for once and submit a bill calling for secession.

Very well done Mark!!! A perfect rebuttal. It must be difficult to be a rational thinker these days in CA. My condolences on the election of your new governor.

People choose to live where they can find jobs and a manageable cost of living. I'm originally from the People's Republic of Massachusetts, and as soon as my wife finishes nursing school here in the socialist state of Rhode Island, we're leaving. States like California aren't on the short list EVEN for vacations; they're certainly not on ANY list for relocation. After 52 years in liberal MA and even MORE liberal RI, I can't get out of here fast enough.
