I posted this on Susan Brown's Tim Tebow discussion, but it applies equally here: One of the great Orwellian myths of the right is that Christians in America are persecuted. That is the great outrage of "Pseudo Christianity." However, what they really want is license to blasphemously parade their "beliefs" 24/7 before those of us that view spirituality as something a bit more profound, private and serious. You want Jesus on license plates, in comic books, in rock bands, in public schools, in courthouses, in science textbooks, in politics, in sports, ad nausuem. Until we have a compulsory, state imposed Christian Church, this meme will not go away. Jefferson and Madison are rolling in their graves.

The Greatest English Teacher

When I was a junior at Regis College, Denver's Jesuit college, my organic chemistry professor (a Jesuit priest) had a PhD in chemistry and English literature, in addition to a doctorate in theology from the Gregorian in Rome. He not only graded our research papers on scientific content, but grammar and formatting. In his spare time, he was Colorado's men's amateur tennis champion a couple of times. The breath of education one gets from these amazing men, whether they teach high school or at the collegiate level is unique.
she actually graduated from Columbia. we all commit the occasional faux pas. I mean, look at Bachmann, queen of the faux pas...

this post says a lot more about Michael Reagan than Barney Frank. for all his "sexual deviancy" --come on Michael, the lady doth protest too much, methinks...
although most people on this blog would be appalled by an observation from the left, Lynn Samuels on Sirius Left said it all regarding Romney during the '08 primary. On being accused of being anti-Mormon she said that she that the reason she didn't like Romney was not because he was Mormon, but because he was a schmuck...

Bill Bradley was liberal who opposed the Reagan tax cuts. He dropped out of Oxford to join the Air Force reserves to avoid the draft (Vietnam) and then received preferential treatment while in the Air Force reserves and was allowed to leave 31/2 years early to pursue his career in the NBA. Then he got preferential treatment at Oxford and was allowed to take "special exams" to cmplete his Rhodes Scholarship. So much for persistence...
Wow. Karate boy must be off his meds this AM.

Yes Cal, you are a hypocrite. You've always been a hypocrite, not to mention a pedantic bore. The only interesting thing about you is when you shaved off the cheesy mustache.

Obama's Nanny-State Socialism

We wouldn't need Obamacare if the health care industry, and particularly doctors, actually were required to participate in the free market. If people actually had to write a check or plunk down cash every time they went in for medical treatment, health care costs would plummet. It is the hospitals and physicians addiction to the crack cocaine of third party payments that has perverted the industry. And the insurance CEOs are the cartel kingpins swimming in the dollars their corruption has created.

Newt Checks and Balances Liberal Judges

"engage in judicial activism making up their own law based on their own liberal/left values" excuse me, judicial activism cuts both ways. Stop the sophomoric rhetoric that limits judicial activism to liberal judges. Some of the most profoundly pervasive judge-made law has come out of conservative courts. Like Dredd Scott. Like the Slaughterhouse Cases. Like Lochner. Like Citizens United. The Roberts court is turning out to be one of the most judcially active courts in modern times.
