In the story of creation, G-d created man AND woman. HE did not make us androgynous. This creation makes it evident that both have a function. They and their respective functions are not the same and should not be forced to be. Are men and women equal? YES, in all things social. But certainly not in all things physical. Like most species in the animal kingdom, males are larger and stronger. However, I can point to many instances when men are not smarter. Women have no place in combat positions, just as men have no place in birthing babies.

The first line of attack in political battles is language. Getting people to phrase things your way is the first step to getting them to think your way.

In the foggy mess of the debate over women in combat, you will see media references to a “ban” being “lifted.”

Bans are bad. Lifting bans is good. Therein lies the bias strangling this issue in the dominant media culture.
