The beauty of America is that individuals with a variety of abilities and preferences CHOOSE to associate in ways that do not necessarily define them by religion, race, gender... no other nation on earth has ever provided such an opportunity. The role of the government is to protect citizens from enemies foreign and domestic. Arizona's legislature did not enact this law in a reactionary manner. This seems to be a processed response because of the federal government's failure to execute their Constitutional obligation, the Bush administration being just as liable for the dereliction of duty. Violations escalated to the point of ranchers being intimidated and now murdered. The restraint of vigilante action is commendable.

How is this law any different than providing a passport when in a foreign country? Janet Napalitano should have a better than average understanding of what is going on in Arizona, so why hasn't Homeland Security worked with Border Patrol, ICE, state...
