Most conservative white folks would prefer to not have an intelligent, Harvard-graduate lawyer and former Senator of African ancestry give a State of the Union Address - it makes them very uncomfortable. Seeing how they can't call him "dumb" (for obvious reasons), nor can they call him "uppity" for "not knowing his place," they decide to call him arrogant.

But really, can a man who bows and shows humility toward foreign dignitaries, and who's mother was on her death bed with cancer, arguing about her healthcare coverage; or who decided to spend his time as a (gasp!) community organizer, with the urban poor, or who appears in an open session with his party rivals in Baltimore, be considered arrogant?
