So...we're going to subsidize preschool for those least able to afford to have children, thus making it easier for said people to have children, who will need further subsidies because, after all, they're poor.

The goal is to help these children become learners. Unfortunately, the person at home (mother/girl friend), may have never had to figure out how SHE learned and slides into being a half-way teacher. While the schools are inadequate, the home teaching works because there are immediate and tabgible rewards. You want to use the computer...what did you get in English on your last report card.
I am NOT impressed with the teachers. I AM impressed with what this elderly lady has accomplished.
President Obama's recent stumping for a federal preschool initiative has promised a lot to America. In his State of the Union speech, he spoke of making "high-quality preschool available to every single child in America." In his push, however, President Obama is promising something he has no plan to deliver.
