In Europe for an extended stay, we often went on short sight-seeing trips. All too often where we went they would be some strike going on that would interfere with what we wanted to see. So we would just go to an adjoining country and sightsee, and spend our dollars there.

Now that I reflect on this, it was the countries that are now having the most financial troubles that most often were having union strikes. Germany was seldom a problem, I never noticed any strikes there.

I was looking for comments about the good and bad that goes along with being represented by unions.

Still looking for comments, and now want them even if you don't have a union.  

Personally I think unions are outdated relics of an age that belong more to Stalin than to Dickens.
