You don't have much of a grasp on this, do you? The sex drive is a drive to have sex. That is the mechanism nature installed to get the two sexes to bump thier uglies. Having sex is most definitely a biological imperative. The fact that is generates reproduciton is gravy.

There are many instinctive drives humans have, chief among them being oxygen, water and sustenance... all of which are IMPERATIVE to survival.

Scratching your sexual itch is not imperative to your survival, nor does it require a partner thereby risking an unwanted pregnancy... which was the original point of my comment.

Who's having a "grasp" problem?

You are, still.

You appear to be confusing a survival instinct with a biological imperative. The entire human race, as well as all other species, have a biological imperative to mate. One conceptualization would be that each individual is driven to insure the survival of his or her genes. ANother might be that the biological imperative insures the survival of the species itself. But the drive to mate is as strong an imperative an anything else on your list.

So Jack, tell us where the 'biological imperative' is when it comes to the 'instinct to mate' and others carrying the freight? If that's what you're defending it's a silly argument, anyone who's been a teenager knows the 'urge to merge', but these things can and often do have consequences, and if you can't control your 'urge' fine, just know I'm not picking up the tab for your good time.

Your response is completely off base. The biological imperative exists without regard for personal or political preferences. Pretending it is otherwise send you down a rathole looking for a solution that does not exist.

A little short on the logic of causality. Reproduction is not a side effect of sex. It is the purpose of sex. Period.
Post-election season is a time for healing, for putting aside the rancor of a long campaign and rediscovering what unites us. It has not been that way this year.

Prudence, one would think, if not generosity of spirit, should impel Democrats to be magnanimous in victory. Romney did receive about 48 percent of the vote. A little modesty among the winners would seem to be in order.

Instead, the gloating has been extravagant. Worse, liberals have gorged themselves on the same junk food they enjoyed during the campaign and cannot seem to resist under any circumstances -- slandering their opponents....
