First of all, there is no concensus amongst Christians about marriage equality for Gay couples, and indeed there is a growing number of churches that welcome Gay individuals and couples, and most of the Gay people I know identify as Christian. Secondly, for churches that OPPOSE marriage equality for Gay couples, there’s really nothing that needs to be fought back against, because churches have always been to conduct their own affairs as they see fit. Muslim and Atheist and Jewish couples are allowed to marry, even men serving life terms in prison are allowed to marry, churches have never been forced to provide services for any of them. Nothing is going to change when Gay couples are allowed to marry also.
