Which reminds me. Why didn't the Republican Convention resonate? A bunch of minorities, among others, who told almost the same story. 2nd or 3rd generation natives who's parents came here with nothing, worked hard so their children could make something of themselves. The children who worked hard to get were they are. The operative words being "hard work". That's what offends the low information voter. Why work hard when President Santa Claus says you won't have to if you vote for him? and Merry Christmas to Dr. Sowell and all the TH community.
Random thoughts on the passing scene:

When I was growing up, an older member of the family used to say, "What you don't know would make a big book." Now that I am an older member of the family, I would say to anyone, "What you don't know would fill more books than the Encyclopedia Britannica." At least half of our society's troubles come from know-it-alls, in a world where nobody knows even 10 percent of all.
