To alieviate confusion about God speciously granting or withholding the gift of faith, Thomas could have expanded on the premise "Faith is not based solely on facts. It is a gift from a God who exists."

Derek Hunter proves for me that what one sees or does in Iowa is in the eyes of the beholder... which doesn't say much for Hunter and his take on Iowa. We've driven numerous times over the years from Connecticut to visit family in Ames, Iowa, and have found limitless possibilities in Iowa... possibilities that are limited only by the breadth of one's expectations.

The 'Education' Mantra

The absence of any exposure to the physical sciences in liberal arts curricula (I have journalism in mind) was most evident in the reporting on Japan's nuclear crisis where dispatches were misleading and/or entirely incorrect because reporters didn't know the difference between reactor containment structure and open spent fuel pools. In my circa 1950s university days we engineers (Northeastern University, ME Class of 1958) were looked down upon by liberal arts students with superiority complexes. As it turns out, the proof is in the pudding!

Six Women Want Wal-Mart WAM

Katie Kiefer, and her editors as well, are apparently unaware that Walmart has long ago shed its hyphenated "Wal-Mart" logo-name for this new look -- "Walmart". Accuracy in journalism goes a long way in fostering credibility.
