In the Obama-conomy, taxes are a political weapon. They're not being used simply to raise revenue so government can fuction, as Goodman attempts to do in this essay. Instead, taxes are a means to ensure fairness and distribute social justice. The taxes in Obamacare, which will affect middle-income America despite what the president says, do just that.

Taxes have been a political weapon for a long time, Obama did not invent that.

Clinton used tax audits as a weapon during his administration. Congress routinely has created tax rules designed to punish industries they don't approve of and to reward those of which they do approve.
Barack Obama doesn't think the rich are paying their fair share of income taxes. So what is their fair share?

I posed this question to Fox News commentator Juan Williams in Dallas the other day. "The top 10 percent of income earners are paying 71 percent of all income taxes," I said. "Isn't that enough?" Although Juan was trying to defend the Obama position, he didn't have an answer.

Then I turned the question around. "The bottom one-half of the population is paying zero, or close to zero, income taxes. What's their fair share?" He didn't have...
