Oh, now I understand. "You are one backward individual" was a compliment, and you meant nothing by it.

There was nothing in my post to justify your insult. You are an ***hole!

Paul Ryan would be a much better choice. He has a high probability of delivering the swing state of Wisconsin to Romney. He has budget credibility and solid support from the Republican base. Rice brings nothing to the ticket. Blacks will vote for BHO regardless of whom Romney picks for VP. She did not impress me during her tenure in the Bush administration, and we don't need a pro-choice VP to dilute the pro-life credentials of Romney and the Republican party. If Romney picks her, my enthusiasm for the ticket will plummet dramatically.

Emmett: Jay Nordlinger is a great guy. He will tell you the magazine he edits is National Review, not the National Review. There is no "the" there. You are overconfident regarding BHO's defeat. Perhaps every thinking American will vote against BHO. That's not enough; we need a majority. Paul Ryan's spending plans still form the classic hockey-stick graph. Until that spending is flat, we have nothing about which to cheer.
The Republicans WILL blow it. They never blow an opportunity to blow an opportunity.

As you condemn us (U.S.), you might consider the achievements of other countries and ideologies: -Soviet communism: the deaths of millions through Stalin's reign of terror and the forced collectivization of agriculture; -Nazism: initiated a war that claimed the lives of 55 million, more than half of whom were civilian non-combatants; -Chinese communism: the deaths of millions in the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution; -Islamism: to be determined. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were terrible tragedies, but our nuclear weapons ended WWII, probably prevented an even greater loss of life that would have resulted from the invasion of Japan, and kept the Russians from over-running western Europe.
Excellent insight, Jonah. Now, will Romney follow your advice, or will he insist on being a Republican first and a leader second? The days of get-along, go-along Bob Dole and Bob Michael make me ill. We need bold leaders to reduce sharply the size, extent, and cost of government at all levels.
Typo: "the one of the pre-eminent..." should simply be "one of the pre-eminent..."
So, the Friedman and Schwartz analysis of the banking collapse is complete nonsense? Who, may I ask, is Mike Shedlock, and what are his qualifications to issue such a criticism of Ms. Schwartz and the one of the pre-eminent economists of the 20th century?

"The smartest course for Iran to pursue is to demonstrate to the West that she is reasonable and anxious to prove she has no present or future intention of building atomic weapons. Which is what Iran was doing in Istanbul." Iran is reasonable and was acting in good faith in Istanbul? Pat, when did you start drinking so much Koolaid?
