Barry got a big mess from pretty much ALL his predecessors in 2008. In 2012, he got a much bigger mess from himself. The worst is no one in DC is doing anything useful about the demographic time bomb of unfunded entitlements for the fastest growing percent of our population, namely aging baby boomers. I see no significant possibility of dealing with an unsustainable course until we hit the iceberg. When this happens I want Barry, or an unabashed liberal ideologue just like him in the WH. Otherwise, moonbeams like NDMom will blame conservatism for the results of 70 or 80 years of big gov't abuse of the constitution. A lot of them will blame Bush anyway.

The Titanic sank because the helmsman altered course too late. It she'd hit the berg square on, she might have survived, since she was built to withstand a head on collision, hence the "unsinkable" appellation. But the ship scraped by, opening up her side from stem to stern, breaching water tight compartments that would have survived a head-on impact.

Similarly, I want us to hit that financial wall head on. Mixing analogies, I want things to happen fast enough so the frog feels the heat and jumps out of the pot.

I almost feel sorry for the Obama Administration’s spin doctors. Every month, they probably wait for the unemployment numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics with the same level of excitement that people on death row wait for their execution date.

This has been going on for a while and today’s new data is another good example.

As this chart indicates, the White House promised that the unemployment rate today would be almost down to 5 percent if we enacted the so-called stimulus back in 2009. Instead, the new numbers show that the jobless rate is 7.9 – almost 3.0...
