The Bible specifies treatment of gays, women & others in a manner that is ILLEGAL under the US Constitution and US law. It says gays should be killed. It says some women who are raped should be killed for being raped. It says people who pick up sticks on a Saturday should be tortured to death. The Bible orders the murder of all people who don't worship the god of the Bible. (That's me and maybe you too.) This has no business anywhere near US gov't or US courts. Case closed. Sure would be nice if more Americans still had a clue...

Keith Ellison, D-Minn., the first Muslim elected to the United States Congress, has announced that he will not take his oath of office on the Bible, but on the bible of Islam, the Koran.

He should not be allowed to do so -- not because of any American hostility to the Koran, but because the act undermines American civilization.
