I must repeat. People of color made peace with the "white man" world wide summer of 1975. The only group by 2012 who don't recognize that peace exist, is the Ronald Reagan American Republican Party. Another topic: Mr. Elder, talk to a GOP representative. Discuss their old fashioned out dated platform. He or she will tell you don't worry they have programs for people who look like you!!! WOW.

sorry, but you are historically inaccurate. the Repbublicans were the ones who did not discriminate against color. the Republican party was formed by the anti-slavery Democrats. it was the Democrats who murdered thousands of Americas to keep slavery and when that didn't work; they killed them to prevent people of color from voting. It was the Republicans that voted in the late 1800's to define civil rights for people of color. It was the Democrats who, when in power, removed the civil rights of colored people. It was the Democrats who gave people of color the option to join them or die. It is not the Republicans that want the forced oppression of others. Democrats murdered and raped their opponents for more they 50 years.

Democrats have been promoting that lie for so long now, I think the majority of them, even the white ones, really believe it. Our challenge is, how do we get them to believe the truth? The republican party is NOT racist. The schools don't teach history. They say we are not inclusive. Yet, we have more elected minorities, blacks and hispanics than do democrats. They were on parade at the convention. But, for some reason that doesn't count. They're considered uncle toms or sell outs. How do they overcome that? And how do WE overcome the mischaracterization? It's a tough problem.

Wrong. Re economics- Our current system - the system Reagan supported (Capitalism) may not be the best, but it is the fairest. It is the ONLY system that does NOT discriminate based on race, or anything. The system rewards hard work. It made America the strongest wealthiest nation in the world.

You and yours should decide whether our "outdated platform" which has stood the test of time...or socialism communism which is where we are headed, and where misery is the better system.

I can't believe that people who claim to be for "people of color" prefer a system of shared misery over one that rewards the individual and hard work. Wake up. see the real enemy of your people is the political class who have exploited and played you.

My parents are not white and they are proof that hard work (used to) pays off.

It is the only way to level the playing field. Not sit there are moan about how unfair life is.

Get up and prove them wrong. There is every opportunity for everyone (again used to be).

Well sadly, your people voted for one who will keep them down (dumbed down too) just for the sake of power.

Again, you guys got played. Party on.

Brandon, a 9-year-old black kid, attended a campaign rally hosted by Michelle Obama. A cameraman interviewed Brandon, who was there with his dad. "Why does (Obama) need to win?" he was asked. "Because if Mitt Romney wins," he replied, "we'll be going back to the crop fields. We'll be picking crops." Off-screen, his father could be heard laughing.

From whom does a 9-year-old hear that Obama's opponent is a racist who, to quote the Democratic National Committee chairwoman, wants "to literally drag us all the way back to Jim Crow laws"?

Brandon's father might alert his son to a recent column...
