Mr. Elder, Mr. Sowell came on television December 1980, after Ronald Reagan was elected U.S. President. Mr. Sowell explained their Reagan and Sowell's conservatism . On that day in December 1980, that was the end of conservatism for us into eternity. With conservatives, Mr. Elder, it is always "Them". It is never you. Mr. Sowell came on TV, we had never heard of the man. He said we had to surrender to Ronald Reagan and his philosophy. We had rid ourselves of the despicable Jim Crow, Mr. Sowell demanded we surrender and submit to another "white man". It was not 50 years of lefties it was one hour of Thomas Sowell December 1980, it never got better from the Republican Party. You sir, you sir, not them

OMG! I am so amazed at your ignorance. Blacks faired better while Reagan and Bush (if I may add) were President! How are they fairing now while Obama is President? Not so well. Dude or Dudette do your research!

Pinenee. For someone who types many words, your are really a narrow minded individual. It is obvious you have the same problem with black conservatives as do the editors and publishers of Ebony magazine.

Instead of your juvenile criticism of black conservatives, maybe you step back and deal with your own prejudices.

Invest one hour exploring the history of the Republican Party. You might learn some surprising facts. Just because you were ignorant of Sowell does not make him irrelevant.

The only Jim Crow remaining today is the affirmative action that attacks Asians, whites, and males of all colors. Smoke that, sport.

Dear Ebony,

I do not have high hopes, given the way Ebony treats black non-liberals, that you will review my new book, "Dear Father, Dear Son: Two Lives, Eight Hours." It is, in the end, about the importance of fathers -- and the damage done to a child who grows up without one.

Why do I know you will ignore my book despite its examination of the most important issue facing "black America"? Your magazine treats black conservatives as if they were the enemy, that they bring nothing valid to the discussion.

Ebony magazine, a monthly staple of American black life...
