Unprotected Speech

I spent 26 years in the military defending the Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic. As much as the courts have added qualifiers to the 1st Amendment, it doesn't make them right. I find it odd that all kinds of filth and the burning of the flag are protected speech, but offensive or 'hate' speech is not? Get a grip folks.

The Freedom of Speech is not a freedom from offense. Some might say the Phelps are insighting fighting words, so be it. They are free to say it in the public square none-the-less. Don't like it? Too bad.

I'm a professional trainer and adjunct faculty for a university on the left coast. I also spent 26 years in the military defending the righs of some of the above posters to be stupid.

I introduce most of my classes with the caveat that my time in the military was spent defending our freedom of speech, NOT your freedom from offense. Though I don't intentionally want to offend, by speaking the truth as I know it someone will likely not like what I say. Too bad. And, no, I don't get into trouble often. And, yes, students like hearing the truth.

I applaud Dr. Adams for his continued vigilence for the cause of Constitutional Freedom. I just wish the liberal dimwits who mostly have done nothing to really serve this country...

Me: The failure of data colletion is that categories sometimes don't fit due to our assumptions. There are many in this country who are an active part of the body of Christ, followers of Jesus who could easily report "no religious affiliation." I am one. Be careful about your assumptions.
