Is Disagreement with Obama Racism?

Mr. Williams...thank you for your common-sense approach to reality. I agree wholeheartedly with you that racism is nothing what it used to be. I was born in the 1940's, grew up in the South, saw and experienced much racism. Though my parents were not activists they did not condone the predominant racist attitudes of the time, fortunately, that was instrumental in helping us eight brothers form a more realistic attitude in judging character to form an opinion of someone. Racist figures were often prominent respected individuals for a time. That has change as you said. I have been in the military, traveled to East, North, and West areas of the continental United States, met people of varied economic and social status and can state...

"Abortion is legal and safe
let's keep it that way!"

So you say...it is not a punitive act according to our present cultural definition...so legal is an appropriate reference; however, SAFE...is certainly not a word that makes sense to the yet forming human being in the womb. Have you ever seen an aborted baby? Have you ever read how an abortion is performed? Have you ever seen the results of a "partial birth" abortion?
SAFE...for whom?
Hey X-Marine. I'm X-Air Force from the mid-60's...an old guy. You have said it beautifully...I applaud your work...believe wholeheartedly in that process. I'm reminded of an old American Indian saying that goes something like this..."you can give a man a fish and feed him for a day, but if you teach a man to fish he can feed himself for life". That's what you and your friends are doing...wonderful work.
...nice piece of fiction.
Parents need to teach their children "self discipline". That's when it becomes REAL for the child. It is where you live that is real. It is superfluous, fictional delusion to even consider that government take that responsibility.

Another story...hang in there with me guys and gals...we have this janitor lady who cleans up after we leave the office. Her name is Ms Mary. Ms. Mary is a very sweet, hard working person...she's older than I am and not very flexible in her movements. When I throw paper in the trash sometimes in will go behind my map rack, in a very difficult place to get. Ms. Mary would tell me "Ohh don't worry about that 'cher' I'll get it."
I know it pains her to have to reach back there to get it, I will pick it up and put it in the trash because of Ms. Mary. It would be very easy for me to justify leaving it there because (I'm a busy supervisior...that's her job...she's getting paid for it anyway, etc., etc.).

Now to the point of...

Several years ago, before he died, my father gave a car to one of these cousins, because it seems he had really been trying (working at a job for several years) than got layed off. They had very little money...then his truck broke down. This first cousin by the way is one of very few of his siblings who ventured out, away from welfare. My father, not a very well (living on social security --- about $1500 a month) gave him a car he had fixed up. My first cousin who has sense died did alot to turn his family around. The story continues...please bare with me. My daughter works for large "Oil Tool" company in out area. The other day this young man comes to her and introduces himself. He happend to be the grandson of this first...

Dr. Sowell...thank you for your fortitude in continuing to share your wisdom.
Joel, thanks for your comment to William about the GI Bill...
To William in Washington:
I, too have used it to further my education...if you've been in the military you know it is not a handout but a benefit. Many have not taken advantage of that opportunity.
I too was born in the 1940s. Grew up in a similar situation as Ray (from Tx). I have several good friends (one very close) who have African heritage. I have a great niece who is by-racial (white/black). I have a nephew who is by-racial (white/asian). My great niece's father is a "zero"...has nothing to do with his race...it has to do with him as a person. He prefers to figure out how to...

Ms. Star Parker, thank you for continuously sharing your wisdom with those who chose to listen. I see that President Obama and his czars are pushing a national religion on us. Congress and the law makers are responsible to insure that our laws protect and defend our freedoms (as you aptly have said). Acceptance of each other in our diversities has been in Jewish and Christian cultures for thousands of years. Jesus first said...(do unto others as you would have others do unto you). God has been, in some instances, and is being, in other instances, "kicked out" of public institutions under the guise of (protection against a 'national religion'). The push of the political party in power seems to be pushing "religious" concepts...
