People and banks are sitting on cash because of uncertainty - they don't know how the Fed and Congress will handle the economy and deficit spending (or so-called budget). But the Fed is printing money like mad. Deflation is a decrease in the money supply and that is surely not happening. When the dam breaks and all that cash starts flowing into the system, look out.

While it is true that France did not participate in the Iraq war, I suspect that Al-Qaeda is plotting with France over Algeria and the current tension between immigrant Muslims and the rest of French society...or any number of other things they can think of since the battle of Tours.
