Why Mitt Lost and it Wasn’t Very Close

John, I was so disgusted with the election results that I sat at my computer until the sun started coming up and my horses were looking in the window wondering if I was coming for an early morning ride in the mountains. I am asking if the right wing bigots in the Republican party spiked Romney because of their bigotry against Mormons? Obama was a sitting duck! He had received 8 or nine fewer votes in 2012 than 08. Historicly, well let me give you some examples. Clinton got 45 million votes. (Yes TH readers I posted this on Katies column) Gore got 51 million votes Kerry got 59 million votes (About 6 million increase between elections due to population growth) Obama's votes were near 60 million this time, down 9 million

And Romney got nearly 60 million as well.. It was very close... despite what John may think. Obama only won due to a razor thin margin in few swing states. Given the voter fraud and missing ballot issues.... Romney may have actually won.

Millions of Republicans, after howling about the direction of the country, SIMPLY DID NOT VOTE!

I suspect they were the right wing bigots of the Tea Party group who would "eat a worm" before they would vote for a Morman!

As I sat here last night reading from the various sites, I read enough vitriol and declarations from posters that they stayed home and would never vote for a cult member to have certainly put Romney over the top.

Obama won because Republicans stayed home by the millions!

Kerry got more votes in 04 than Obama in 2012

Mccains total from 08 was enough to defeat Obama in 2012

Republicans simply refused to vote for a Mormon! It is like racism, they won't say it out loud unless they are drunk but it runs deep!

Following normal increases in voters, 5 or 6 million added between elections, Romney should have received at least 64 million votes! Even 62 would have been enough! I am very disappointed that some Republicans, who could have saved the country would Spike the only Republican in the race. Buyers remorse will not reverse the damage done by their bigotry!

It is not surprising, however that this bigotry is centered in the mid west Bible Belt! where they still view catholic schools askance and the knights of columbus as if it were the KKK!

Misinforamtion. Romney got nearly as many votes as Obama. He missed only by about 300,000.

We didn't stay home, we voted straight Democrat because the Party pooped on us. You reap what you sow.

Look here ya simpleton. Romney carried the "Bible Belt" states by huge margins, so that shoots down your 3 paragraphs of nonsensical lies. The only bigot in here appears to be you and your lies about religion causing Romney to lose.

Memorandum to the GOP: When running an election campaign it is often valuable to select a nominee who represents the rank and file of the Party. This is how other Parties do it. Perhaps you might get on board.

Well let’s start with who not to select.

There was George H.W. Bush, who, while a nice, honorable public servant, won primarily because of the record Reagan established. He lost because the rest of us thought that when he mouthed the words “Read my lips, go to Texas,” he meant “Read my lips, no new taxes.”

There was Bob Dole,...
