My friend Pistol writes, Unfortunately, attempts at reform are usually worse than the conditions which led to the reform attempts. Eric Sevareid declared "the chief cause of problems are solutions"! In decades past, when information sources were crude, you got 15 minutes of nightly news and newspapers were days old, people were better informed on events in Government and national finances. That is largely because there were not 23 hours a day of entertainment/distractions (It is reported that people spend more than 10 hours daily connected to some electronic and social media. As a result, they are dumba$$es and have not the slightest knowledge of affairs of state!
