It is simply amazing all of the backseat critiques. Hindsight is always 20/20. I wouldn't know for a fact whether Phil Robertson wishes he had said somethings differently or not. It doesn't matter! He said them. It is what it is. And everyone of us has done the same, whether in the same forum or not. So it does not matter! What matters is that he was asked a question and he answered the question honestly and in his own way. He stated his opinion in his own words and didn't use a prepared, politically correct, scripted answer approved by A&E. He was an individual American stating his views and opinions that didn't represent anyone else. He was endowed by his Creator at birth with the right to do so. Our Constitution recognizes and protects this right endowed by his Creator. What he said, how he said it, who he said it to doesn't matter. Whether you agree, disagree or have a reservation doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is that he has the right to say what he said without any repercussions. That is what the founding fathers desired. Based on these comments, no one here agrees completely with anyone else. God Bless America! We can freely share our views and opinions. But we waste time and energy on things that don't matter instead of supporting our common cause which is liberty and freedom for everyone to be able to share their views and opinions freely without worry of repercussion or retaliation. A Free Society has no reason to care what one individual personally believes or doesn't believe. When we spend as much time as we do stewing over what one person said or didn't say is not typical of a Free Society but very typical of a controlled society with names like Socialism, Communism, Fascism, etc, etc, etc. Those who consider themselves free men and women...STOP IT!...start acting like free men and women. And to Phil Robertson...you go ahead and say whatever you want about whatever you want to. You have the unalienable right to do so!
It is only just beginning... I lived this nightmare on a website launch over 12 years ago. Double billing, triple billing...all the same day or different days. Was it us? Was it the processor? Could it be the acquiring bank? Is it a connection issue? Is it a data issue or a command issue? The list goes on. And based on the way it looks like the "platform" (I use the term loosely) they probably have to research each issue separately to figure how it is happening. Then look for a fix without crashing the whole thing. It is a great, efficient, well spent solution made for us by our government for our benefit (sarcasm).
Here are some quotes... No one is bound to obey an unconstitutional law and no courts are bound to enforce it. -- 16 Am. Jur. Sec. 177 late 2d, Sec 256 - "This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it or their revolutionary right to dismember it or overthrow it." -- Abraham Lincoln, 4 April 1861 "Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable. -- John F. Kennedy "Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. Tolerance in the face of tyranny is no virtue." -- Barry Goldwater Where are the Free Men and Women of this country???
Did you not go to school??? 1) " the thousands of years that Americans have enslaved blacks" - America was founded in 1776, slaves were freed 1863 that is less than 100 years. 2) "make up for being the only race in human history to ever hold another race in bondage" - The Bible clearly shows that all races made slaves of their conquered enemies and very few of those were black. In fact, it was common practice for a conquering nation to enslave the conquered nation. And guess what, even the tribes in Africa enslaved other tribes. 3) "It is time for white people to make some serious effort to atone for their evil ways. " - we did...it is called the Emancipation Proclamation of 1863. 4) "Some whites have operated under the misconception that by giving blacks small advantages in hiring and other opportunities or that by giving them a little cash" - here you are correct. We should stop this and you should stop accepting it. You are free to do and be whoever you want. I am white and I never got any cash or advantages based on my skin color. I had to work hard. 5) "they have made virtually no gains since the dawn of time, and the responsibility for that lies at the feet of white America" - see #1, I don't think 87 years could ever be considered as "the dawn of time" by anyone. 6) "they are the most abused people in history" - no actually history makes it pretty clear that the Jews were/are the most abused race in the world. Of course they have about 6 thousand years of it, all documented. 7) "Americans have enslaved blacks" - as well as whites. You don't carry an exclusive on slavery in America. As poor Europeans attempted to come to America, they didn't have the money to pay for the cost to get here. So they took the option of "selling" themselves to someone in America for as many as 20 years. The cost to buy them was only the cost of fare to get them to America. In fact, it was cheaper to buy poor white than it was to buy black slaves. They weren't called slaves. They were called "indentured servants". But they worked along side, slept with, ate with the black slaves and were driven just as hard. 8) "You can never make amends." - If that is the case, then we should just stop trying. Your failures are your own. Your ancestors deserved freedom and they got that. Your ancestors paid the price so that you could be free. I don't know where or who taught you these lies, but there is no excuse for ignorance or for this hate language.
The issue with this article is the title “The Election of a Black President Has Meant Nothing”! Morgan Freeman was asked on a radio interview right after the 2008 election what he thought of America having the first black President. He very clearly stated that Obama was not the first black President but was the first mixed race President. In other words, Morgan Freeman stated on national radio that Obama was not black. Genetically, Obama is one half Caucasian from his mother and one half African (not African American) from his father. As someone mentioned he spent over 80% of his childhood raised in a white, Christian home. So he was raised in an entirely white home environment. So genetically he is not black and environmentally he was not raised black. So what would his level of blackness be… Would he qualify for scholarships for black students? No, he is not black. Could he have enrolled at an all black university? No, he is not black. If he had ever had a real job, how would he have been assigned in measuring Affirmative Action or EEOC requirements? Mixed Race, he is not black. Based on those facts, why would anyone say he is black??? To say that he is black could only be based on the color of his skin. I knew a woman in Nashville who was one half Indian, one quarter white and one quarter black. She looked “black”, but she wasn’t and always took offense being called “black”. It is politically incorrect to label someone based on the color of their skin. In other words, it is racist (and a lie) to call President Obama black!

A New Birth of American Freedom, Again

Ms. Parker, What we have here is the result of the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics which states..."that every system left to its own devices always tends to move from order to disorder". We say that our Declaration of Independence and Constitution are living breathing documents, but what we in reality have done is engraved them in stone and printed them out to hang on our walls thinking that this makes them solid, stable and enduring, not needing any of our attention. WE WERE WRONG! If those documents are living and breathing, they must be on life support. Because we have allowed them to be cut, minimized, mutated or diseased to a point some parts of them are hard to recognize. If you want to know how our forefathers would feel about our society today, just compare their freedoms with the ones we have today. There is no way they could ever be pleased with where we are today. It would be all chaos to them and have them wonder how we have survived for so long. They warned us that this could happen but we didn't pay attention especially in the last 50 years. The downward movement toward chaos would be shocking to them to a point they would wonder if their sacrifices for freedom was really worth it. The only solution to bring back the order our forefathers designed for us, is for us to go back to focusing on what is the most important...being free! Our forefathers were free men before they became patriots, and patriots before they became leaders. America needs for free men and women to be brave enough to stand up and say "Enough!" and "No More!". Then from those free men and women will rise true American patriots and from those patriots we will have leaders who truly believe in protecting the freedoms we have. Then free men and women need to not only stand up but walk to the voting booth and get rid of every local, state and federal legislator (Democrat or Republican) who has not or does not protect the freedoms given to us by our forefathers. That should automatically kick out every long term politician there is. We need a President who not only recognizes the need to protect our freedoms but actually and actively protects them. Free men and women need to wake up, stand up and work together to return to us all of our freedoms as secured by our forefathers.

More Gun Lies From Gabby Giffords

We as a group have got to remove ourselves from the now redefined term "patriotism". Patriotism is only what an individual or a group of individuals say it is to them. Iran has patriots. Nazi Germany had patriots. Our forefathers were patriots but before they were patriots, they were free men. We must now separate ourselves as a group of free men and women. Because what Ms. Giffords is saying is not the words or thoughts of a individual living in a free society. And because she uses the term "patriot" it is not in the same context as our "patriot" forefathers. Because our forefathers were free men, they were by default patriots. You don't have to a free man to be a patriot in today's culture. You just have to comply with the will of the government. We need to focus on being free and not on being patriotic! Free individuals would never support anything that would take anyone's freedoms away, let alone their own personal freedoms. Anything that comes at the cost of any freedom or infringes on any freedom no matter how small must be rejected and resisted. And those who use the sort of talk, even though they were a victim or they lost a loved one does not entitle them to anything but our sorrow for their pain and suffering or our grief for their loss. What those should do for us is re-enforce the fact that our freedom is not free! There is always a cost. We must be diligent in the protection of our freedoms and must be prepared for each assault of those freedoms. Because we are free, we will never be safe! Our forefathers warned us of this. They knew the limits that the enemies of freedom would go to in order to destroy us, whether it be by political means, flying a plane into a skyscraper, walking into a school with a semi-auto weapon or mandating healthcare. We should not be shocked by any of these things but redouble our efforts to be more prepared to defend our freedoms through any means necessary in the future. Wake up America! We are the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave. We are not the Land of the Safe and the Home of the Scared. We don't need any more patriots. We need free men and women brave enough to stand up and say "Enough!" and "No More!".

I couldn't agree more... Our freedoms will not be taken from us in one sweep of the pen, but in tiny little bits that we don't pay any attention to. History proves that in the long term there has been a decline of the freedoms guaranteed under Constitution. I wonder if our forefathers would still even consider us as "free" in their terms.

Freedom is not free. It can only been paid in blood…the blood of our families and loved ones both young and old. And remember, to live in the Land of the Free, we must be Brave.

Mr. Stossel, Your position on this only indicates the attitude that got us here in the first place. One thing I have learned in life, there is always something better or worse than you have. Some have better homes, better jobs, better salaries, etc. then you, and some have worst homes, worst jobs, worst salaries, etc. Your comparison of our freedoms versus other countries is like two kids in the playground arguing over who has the best dad. The comparison is irrelevant, because there will always be places with better freedoms and others with worse. Instead, compare our current freedoms with those of our forefathers. Oops…that relevant comparison sheds a whole new light. To be very clear…this is the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave! It is NOT the Land of the Safe and Home of the Scared. Which one of our founding fathers ever said that because we are free we should automatically be safe? No, they said just the opposite in that because we are free, we will never be safe. So giving up our freedoms for the dream of safety is ludicrous. There is nothing in world history that supports the concept of less freedom more safety, though many have tried. In fact, history proves more freedom, more safety. Where does it say that the government has to guarantee our safety?? Our government will never be able to guarantee our safety, no matter how many freedoms we give up. Look…the government had all of this data at their finger tips and yet they were caught completely unaware and failed in protecting the citizens of Boston. Their excuse…we can’t know everything… Sadly, they are right. So now that we know they had this information available to them at the time of the Boston bombings, does anyone feel saver??? Of course not. Giving up our freedoms even slightly, Mr. Stossel has not made us safer nor does anyone feel safer. America needs more people focusing on freedom than desiring to be a patriot. In the Eastern European countries, they have patriots, but they are not free. We need people to concentrate more on being free. A free individual is by default a patriot. Someone saying, “I don’t mind giving up this little bit of freedom, if it means we will be safer,” would be a very patriotic person, but that is not what a free individual would have said. The free individual would say, “There is no amount of safety worth giving up even a little freedom for. We don’t negotiate our freedoms for safety."
