Has John McCain Lost His Mind?

This attack is off base. At a time when America is suffering from a degraded military from Obama's policies and under-funding and from Obama's fecklessness and cowardly "leading from behind" in foreign affairs, this article attacks someone for being pro-military, for calling for leading from the front and for recognizing that timely military action is required in this dangerous world -- that reliance on talk alone will only delay the time when we will need to resort to military action. McCain can fairly be criticized for his positions on immigration, his attacks on conservatives such as Ted Cruz (for which I understand McCain apologized) and his desire for bipartisanship at the expense of conservative principle, but McCain has been a national security, pro-military conservative; and for that aspect of his record, no attack should be coming from conservatives. Is the country tired of war? Yes, but leadership is required at such times. Obama is throwing away what our military had achieved in Iraq and Afghanistan; and we will pay a price for that in the future.

Still Kicking Around Nixon

The excerpt of the Nixon tapes I heard and saw recently had Nixon talking about how he intended to flatten Hanoi. My reaction was that Nixon should have done so. The Vietnamese communists had to be beaten, as they were not going to let a non-communist South Vietnam survive. Luke NIchter is an idiot who does not understand how the world works. Nixon did understand, and we were safer for it.

George Patton's Summer of 1944

I recommend reading Victor Davis Hanson's book "The Soul of Battle." One of the featured generals is Patton. The discussion of Patton superbly captures the man.
Texas should be proud. The best Senator in the USA is Ted Cruz. The best Governor in the USA is Rick Perry.
DoctorX, you live in an alternative universe. Reid is detested by most Americans as a reckless blowhard.
Harry Reid should have been prosecuted for treason for his "This war is lost" statement made before microphones outside the Senate floor.
The Nevada Republican Party is not part of a party that I wish to be associated. I support economic conservatism and national security conservatism (without NSA excesses), but social conservatism is a necessary part of the Reaganite conservative program. Freedom cannot survive in a libertine jungle. Those who believe they can dispense with traditional morality and institutions and still maintain freedom lack understanding.
Ann, McConnell has been and is still dreadful in dealing with the Democrats. Sorry, but McConnell is one who needs to be replaced by the GOP primary. The polls I have read indicate that McConnell may lose a general election.

A Tiger of a Book

According to the Left, what you just wrote is hate speech.
With all due respect to VDH, Obama is far worse than Nixon. The comparison is useful because what Nixon did to get impeached was less. Take the IRS. Nixon thought about using the IRS to audit some specific political enemies, but George Schultz nixed it. The second article of impeachment against Nixon was the alleged misuse of the IRS. By way of comparison, Obama's IRS targeted conservatives and religious organizations generally. Impeachment anyone?
