Lewis said almost exactly what I have been saying for many years. During my 89 years I spent about about a third working as a consutlant in the Arab world. I found that the US State Dept. had no time for any businessmens' suggestions or informations. My time in Iran was before the fall of the Shah. However, I found friendly, well-educated people who were prone to go toward democracy. I remained in touch with some wjho immigrated to the US and they told me that the youth despised the rule of the Islamist.
