Clearly, we must keep out of government people predisposed by their religion, ethnicity or family connections to put a foreign cause ahead of ours. But we must guard against those who use such arguments against friends of our most valuable ally, Israel.
The remedy: only real Americans should have the vote. That means nonhispanic whites who have never been in jail or on welfare, collected unemployment benefits, had an abortion or an out-of-wedlock child. Membership in a church for at least 10 years should also be required. Recent candidates for high office imply the Founders really aimed to create a Judeo-Christian, rather than a Christian, country. If this can be proved then 10 years in a synagogue should be acceptable. As for women voting, I am torn between my admiration for the Founders and not wanting Ann Coulter treated like someone without photo identification.
