seperate but equal has been roundly rejected as a legal doctrine for decades.
homosexual spouses are more financially stable, just like heterosexual spouses. they also engage in less risky sexual activity, reducing the rate and spread of disease, just like heterosexual couples. moreover, allowing gays to marry doesn't negatively impact the positive impacts marriage has on heterosexuals. FURTHER, we don't bar the elderly or sterile heterosexuals from marrying, even though they don't procreate. literally none of your objections to gay marriage holds any water.
yes, the state is responsible for setting public policy and not the church. this isn't a theocracy.
