I believe a military officer claimed I would convert to a theistic religion in combat. That's what I'm offended by. It's a generalization about all atheists based on eighty-year-old anecdotes. Pray to God until you run out of breath, that doesn't bother me. It bothers me a little that you are unable to grasp the difference between atheists being offended by God and atheists being offended by people insulting atheists.

I also find the Chaplain's contention mildly offensive, but I think that writing a response to the offending article might have been more productive than forcing its retraction.
