Gun control? The real issue in the control of those with severe mental health issues. There was a time when those with these kinds of disorders were hospitalized, often long term. However the current belief is that this can be controlled with a pill. Good if the person takes the pill, But many do not, and many others never get seen or treated,. Yet often family and law enforcement know who has real problems and needs hospitalization. And while some parents are in denial until its too late, earlier intervention and hospitalization may help prevent a few of these tragedies.
America has been waiting in vain for the Rupublicans to expose anything, from who is Obama all the way back to waiting for them to expose all the mystery deaths that occurred in the first year of Clinton's election. Based on history nothing will be exposed but another Democrat policy victory.
The sales tax is the only fair tax and it should have a ten percent cap as was discussed back when they were debating the income tax amendment. And it is the only true measure of wealth as many who claim no income have plenty of money to spend. And it frees the citizen from the yearly trip to the dungeon know as tax preparation time. More revenue would be collected as pimps, dope dealers, prostitutes, armed robbers, burglars, street huslers and the mafia whose cash income is immune from the income tax would come into the system when they go on those buying sprees the ordinary citizen can't afford.

A tale of two elections. Obama went after his base, saying things that sounded banal, the pill , big bird, student loans, amnesty while living on MSMedia. Romney avoided his base like plague. Palin, leader of the grass root Conservatives, was barred from the convention in favor of Christie. Ron Paul, with his faults, is a hero to US youth, but no attempt was made to include them, and Romney ignored conservative media. The snobbish Democrats cater to their base no matter how weird, Republicans say nothing good about their base. The results show in presidential elections.

The only thing missing was a picture of Obama holding a newspaper saying "Romney wins". Otherwise, Romney's campaign was a clone to that of Thomas Dewey. In fact, Dewey has been the model for every Republican campaign since then, with the exception of Reagan, i.e. none aggresive, generic and bland. Ike was lucky because everyone liked Ike. Nixon was lucky because everyone hated Johnson. GH Bush was lucky the first time because everyone loved Reagan, while his son was lucky because everyone was tired of Clinton. GH Bush the 2nd time, Dole, and McCain had no luck. However only Romney was able to duplicate to perfection the disaster that was Dewey. But we will see this kind of campaign again as it is the only kind that RINOs know.

It took a few thousand years before medicine learned that bleeding a weak sick person, who may have needed a transfusion instead, was not a good remedy. Though the procedure was always said to be a success, the patient usually died. How long will it take politicians to realize that bleeding a weak economy by raising taxes is not a good remedy either. Economies never improve unless there is some divine intervention like WWII [if you want to call it that] was for our great Depression.

One thing that all states should do, but probably only those with Republican governors will do, is bring back the old fashion mechanical voting booth. You know, the one where you have privacy, where you can see who you voted for rather than have some computer program log it in for you or whomever it was programed to register, where both parties can open and verify the vote count before the booth leaves the voting location. This won't stop the dead from voting but will help insure that your vote both counts and is for the person you pulled the lever for. While it might not be as cool as digital, at least some 14 yr old hacker can't access the system and change a million votes and erase another million.
