Stossel is amazingly on target with this column! This is something all advocates of limited government should get behind.

America is perishing under an avalanche of laws. The passing of a new law, in a free society, should be a rare, well-thought-out event. The law should recognize not only the numerical superiority of the majority, but also the concerns of the minority.

It also should be easier to repeal bad laws. Heinlein's idea is a good one. Here are my ideas. These two amendments/laws would go a long way to fixing the problem of bloated, tyrannical government:

1) Require a supermajority in BOTH HOUSES to pass ANY bill. Three-fifths would be good. Three-quarters would be better. Would this lead to a...
