Do Townhall readers read? Chen was in jail for defending women who were physically "forced" to abort their babies by government officials for 4 years, then under house arrest until his escape. He was tortured because he would not repent and obey the government. There is no end in sight. Letting him come to US to study is a "face-saving" move by the Chinese government. Christian Bales tried to visit him a few months ago and got roughed up by the guards. At least your celebrity movie star has more compassion and sense of justice than all of you who posted making fun and blasting your mouth off in a serious humanitarian matter.

Blind human rights activist Chen Guangcheng, whose escape from house arrest last month shook U.S.-Chinese relations, has left his native country on a flight bound for the United States.
