As President Obama begins his second term, it seems he intends to make good on campaign promises to reform American immigration policy. The New York Times reports today that the president and his fellow Democrats in the Senate are seeking to create a giant omnibus bill that would remake the entire system.
Mr. Obama and Senate Democrats will propose the changes in one comprehensive bill, the officials said, resisting efforts by some Republicans to break the overhaul into smaller pieces — separately addressing young illegal immigrants, migrant farmworkers or highly skilled foreigners — which might be easier...

Now let the grown ups have a serious discussion.
Do we need a nationwide ability to make sure those hired are Legally here?
Do we need highly skilled workers (Doctors, engineers, those who build and expand businesses? to stay here and come here? ) There is a backlog of visas currently for these people.
What about Americans who are married to foreigners and want to bring them over. The Visa backlog for that is very long.
Are you claiming that those on Food stamps want to become migrant workers but can't?
Well that is simply not true.
