In the recent interview with Ben Shapiro, Piers Morgan mockingly asked Shapiro about the purpose of the 2nd Amendment being to protect the people against their own tyrannical government. "When is the US government going to be tyrannical?" he asked. I would answer, "right now." But aside from that, history is full of examples of seemingly just governments turning on a dime and becoming tyrannical. Weimar Germany comes immediately to mind, and I wish Shapiro, as a Jew, would have mentioned it.
