Mitt Wasn't All Wrong About "Gifts"

As usual, Pat Buchanan is the bearer of the uncomfortable truth. The Hispanic community, like the black community, is being sucked into the welfare state. In exchange for some free stuff (K through college, free Obamaphones, free school breakfasts, lunches, and in some case dinners--you name it), they are becoming dependable Democratic Party supporters. In the long run, such programs are, of course, unsustainable, in large part because they are profoundly immoral. This is why I do not support the concept of "majority rule." Under that system, your vote and my vote are cancelled out by "Obamaphone" lady and her friends.

i was hoping to get both an obamaphone and a romneyphone.

you are right. the founders had nothing good to say about "democracy" and very clearly understood the danger of tyranny of the major over the minority. this is why we must recognize everyone's basic inalienable rights as sovereign individual. these rights can be neither granted nor denied by voting.

You can forget it. The mental brainwashing is irreparable. Almost every politician on the boob tube spews out the word democracy relentlessly.
If it's a con it's the phrase bringing democracy to the world, or to Iraq.
Very little is heard about a Constitutional Republic.
200 million morons already have the democracy song and dance down pat.
It's going nowhere, and any with 2 watts plus are dreaming of mass computer voting for that awesome and highly desired direct democracy, power and control in the hands of the proletariat... so they say.

oh come on... admit that the true "american dream" is own an obamaphone. but that doesn't entirely explan big government romney's defeat. can't people be just as happy with a romneyphone ???

I agree with your sentiments, Paulus. However, majority rule will not be overcome unless/until the whole current system implodes. Societal breakdown is causing all of our problems. Chief among these are the rejection of the 2 parent married family, uncontrolled immigration (legal and otherwise) from third world countries, and lack of sufficient work due to automation/computerization. Pat's many writings on the immigration problem have proven to be prophetic.

I should also have added outsourcing of our industrial jobs and excessive concentration of wealth by the 1%.
"What the president's campaign did was focus on certain members of his base coalition, give them extraordinary financial gifts from the government and then work very aggressively to turn them out to vote, and that strategy worked."

Thus did political analyst Mitt Romney identify the cause of his defeat in a call to disconsolate contributors.

Republicans piled on. "Completely unhelpful," Gov. Bobby Jindal told Wolf Blitzer. We don't advance the "debate by insulting folks."

"A terrible thing to say," Chris Christie told Joe Scarborough. "You can't expect to be the leader of all the people and be divisive."

Oh. Was not...
