Is America Ensnared in an Endless War?

Pat, the great Paleo-Conservative, is right once again. Tyrants know that war is the quickest ticket to their goals. With war, you can excuse the inexcusable. Spend a trillion bucks you don't have? No problem! Attack a wedding party and kill 50 innocents in order to get one alleged "terrorist"? No problem! Observe also that politicians love to declare war on anything, to increase their power: War on Poverty, War on Drugs, War on Terror. My favorite was G W Bush's "War on Evil."

When they get around to a "War on Idiots", you don't have to worry PT ... along with your buddies, Herman, Ryan, Unamusing, Aparvus, Geronimo, ... !

True Contard is funny as hell. He's got to be a Hannity listener.

I assume you meant Bush's "axis of evil", Iran, Iraq and North Korea.

Three countries that had nothing to do with 9/11.

But most of the 9/11 hijackers came from Saudi Arabia while Bin Laden was living in a mansion of sorts in Pakistan. You guessed it, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are our "allies'.

But you were right on the money. A "terrorist" means whatever we want it to mean.

Herman,

Bush also said one time that the US was going to end evil as well as "terrorism".

Nothing like setting lofty goals, huh?

But in Defense of W, he did have the examples of how the war on drugs was won, and Johnson did win both the war on Poverty and the 10 year expeditionary deployment in Vietnam!
Why shouldn't all presidents be allowed to dream?

When you are POTUS, everything seems possible and your failures are forgiven in advance if you are a Democrat, and you get multiple chances to pass "go" if you are a Black Democrat President!

Like passing the healthcare law, the worst legislation in history is OK because Romney had tried it; that alone makes bad laws Ok! And supporting Illegals and their numerous offspring for 50 years in return, for their pledge to be a loyal Democrat voter; OK.

So Bush was going to end evil?

When Bush was on his fool's errand in the Middle East how much genocide was going in Africa under his watch in Darfur, Rwanda, Somalia etc?

I guess some lives are worth more than others.
PhillupSpace2 Wrote: Feb 08, 2013 4:03 PM
The excuse that it is OK for me to be bad because Bush was bad and since Bush did not end evil like he said he would, I can Kill Americans and not be evil.

Obama's well of excuses would sure be shallow if he had followed a Democrat president, wouldn't it?

Herman,

Bush reminds me of that story about King Canute trying to command the tides.

Herman, you got it wrong ... AGAIN ... those were during CLINTON's term ... along with several others!

I did not get it wrong. Just google 'Darfur 2003'.

Guess who was President in 2003?

The genocide is ongoing in Africa so yes it happened under Clinton was well as it happened under Bush and Obama.

Clinton cried crocodile tears about African genocide after he left office but Bush was on his high horse while in office..

"When the president does it, that means that it is not illegal."

So said Richard Nixon in his interviews with David Frost. Nixon was talking about wiretaps and surreptitious entries to protect lives and safeguard national security in a violent and anarchic war decade.

The Nixon haters pronounced themselves morally sickened.

Fast forward to our new century. For, since 9/11, we have heard rather more extravagant claims by American presidents.

Under George W. Bush, it was presidential authority to waterboard, torture, rendition and hold enemy aliens in indefinite detention at Guantanamo.

Under Barack Obama, we don't have a Nixon "enemies list"...
